Public Procurement Policy and Gender Perspective Dialogue: BUILD and BWIT
The Public Procurement Policy and Gender Perspective Dialogue organised by Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD) in cooperation with IFC Bangladesh and Bangladesh Women in Technology (BWIT) was held on 4 October 2018, at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka. It explored how the gender aspect could be included in procurement laws and how women could actively participate in the government’s procurement process.

Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, comptroller and auditor general of Bangladesh, as chief guest, said while doing a very good job, the Central Procurement Technical Unit’s web portal could have some women related activities. He added that a standard portal could also be launched for engaging women which would have enough information to increase capacities of women.
The guest of honour, Dr. Jamal Uddin Ahmed, member, Board of Directors, Bangladesh Bank, and general secretary, Bangladesh Economic Association, suggested better policy support enabling creation of women entrepreneurs.
Asif Ibrahim, former chairman, BUILD, have a welcome speech. He moderated a question-answer session and put emphasis on dialogues on this critical issue so that women could come up in a large way to contribute to the economy.
