BWIT participated in Women Economic Empowerment Global Summit on “Women Excelling in Economy” Session “Women in Technology” on 5 December 2017 Sharjah, UAE
UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka with participants
The objective of the Summit is to support women’s equal opportunities in local, regional and global value chains as entrepreneurs, business owners and employees. It will promote multi-stakeholder partnerships on gender equality and women’s economic empowerment among governments, civil society and the private sector.
Technological and sociological changes are fundamentally altering the job market, the type of jobs that will exist in the future and the skills that would be required for those jobs. Women are at the risk of losing out on tomorrow’s best job opportunities, whether this be in public or private spheres or in employment or entrepreneurship. According to World Economic Forum, “female talent remains one of the most underutilized business resources.”
