Bangladesh Women ICT Frontier Initiative (WIFI) at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on Wednesday 5 July 2017
On behalf of ICT Division –Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Bangladesh Women in Technology (BWIT), Bangladesh Institute of ICT in Development (BIID), I co organized the Launch of UN ESCAP APCICT flag ship programme Bangladesh Women ICT Frontier Initiative (WIFI) empowering 30,000 women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh by 2018. The event was held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on Wednesday 5 July 2017.
Hon’ble Speaker, Bangladesh Parliament Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Hon’ble State Minister Women Affairs Mrs. Meher Afroze Chumki, MP and Hon’ble State Minister ICT Division Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP, were present as Special Guests. The Women ICT Frontier Initiative (WIFI) aims to promote women’s entrepreneurship in Asia and the Pacific through enhancing capabilities of women entrepreneurs in ICT and entrepreneurship so that they and their enterprises can become more productive, and hopefully grow and be sustainable so that they can actively contribute to community development as well as in support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. to the local and national economy. The overall goal of WIFI, in support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, is to create socially and economically-empowered women through ICT-enabled entrepreneurship.
BWIT as partner of ICT Division had a remarkable role and as strategic partner initiated the WIFI in Bangladesh.
