BWIT participation in Capacity Building and Human Resource development for IT/ITES Industry” under – “Leveraging ICT for Governance, Growth, and Employment Project in Bangladesh” on 2 September 2013 at Bangladesh Computer Council; Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The objectives of the Leveraging Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for Governance, Growth, and Employment Project are to catalyze the growth of Bangladesh’s IT and IT-Enabled Services (IT/ITES) industry for employment creation and export diversification; and establish basic e-government foundations to support public sector modernization. BWIT has engaged with the Government on this World Bank project. The Project will increase the capacity and skill of Technology, and will train about 30,000 IT workers. The Project will maintain a minimum gender ratio in order to encourage women’s participation. Estimated beneficiaries are 30,000 youth of which 9,000 will be women. This is a huge opportunity to be addressed globally with marketable skills in IT and ITES. BWIT has been advocating for space for Women led companies at Hi Tech Park at Kaliakore and to be given preference. There will be an encouragement and special provision for women ICT Entrepreneurs. The Hi Tech Park Authority have specifically agreed and also made public announcements to this effect.
