BWIT and The Daily Star celebrate International Women’s Day:
Increased enrollment of girls in science and engineering imperative
A Roundtable discussion titled ‘Encouraging Women to Embrace Technology’ was organized by Bangladesh Women in Technology and The Daily Star to mark the International Women’s Day 2011 at The Daily Star Auditorium on March 7, 2011. This year’s theme, “Equal access to
education, training and science and technology: Pathway to decent work for women”. Female students and teachers and of different schools of Dhaka, teachers from Dhaka University, Independent University and University of Liberal Arts and members of the Bangladesh Women in Technology (BWIT) participated at the discussion.
Mr. Mahfuz Anam, Editor and Publisher, The Daily Star was present as special guest and the event was moderated by President, BWIT. BWIT has undertaken the task of encouraging girls to take up the study of science and engineering to become professionals fit for the global IT industry. The roundtable discuss100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day and celebrating Woman hood.
